Press and media

Background on who we are, how our data is built, and what journalists are welcome to quote. If you need a figure checked or a comment on family travel, email us and we will come back to you quickly.

Who we are

Day Out With The Kids started in the UK in 2008 and became the country's largest directory of family days out, used by millions of parents a year. Day Out With The Kids USA applies the same editorial approach to the United States: attraction pages built from official sources, checked by a human editor, with opening times, admission prices and age suitability stated plainly.

Our research is AI-assisted and human-reviewed, and every page cites the sources it was built from. The full method is set out in our editorial standards.

Datasets you can cite

  • US school holiday dates by district

Term and break dates for 90 school districts across 25 states, taken from published district calendars and cited on each page. Useful for stories on travel pricing, summer camp demand and holiday crowding, where national averages hide how far apart neighboring districts break.

  • Break-by-break guides

Summer, fall, Thanksgiving, winter and spring break guides showing how widely the timing varies between districts, with the practical consequences for families booking travel.

  • Family attraction listings

Published admission prices, opening times and age guidance for family attractions by state, city and category. Happy to pull a custom cut, for example starting ticket prices for theme parks by state, on request.

Please credit "Day Out With The Kids USA" with a link to the page you used. Dates and prices change, so tell us your publication date and we will confirm the figures are current.
